UNA OBRA DE MISERICORDIA: «DAR DE BEBER AL SEDIENTO». NUEVAS COPIAS DE LA COMPOSICIÓN PICTÓRICA IDEADA POR BERNARDO STROZZI (GENOVA, 1582-VENECIA, 1644) EN LECCE Y OTRAS CONSIDERACIONES ACERCA DE LA ICONOGRAFÍA

ABSTRACT
Il saggio descrive l’iconografia ideata da Bernardo Strozzi (1581-1644) per la rappresentazione di uno dei più noti atti di misericordia del Barocco: «Dar da bere agli assetati». In questo senso, ho rivisto i quadri che il pittore genovese e la sua bottega realizzarono con la rappresentazione di questo episodio. Oggi queste opere sono conservate in diversi musei e collezioni private europee e americane. Questi dipinti sono stati collegati a una copia successiva, inedita, conservata a Lecce, come pure a una versione venduta nella stessa città e a un disegno recentemente venduto a Firenze.
This article describes the iconography devised by Bernardo Strozzi (1581-1644) to represent one of the most frequently represented acts of mercy of the Baroque period: «Giving drink to the thirsty». I have reviewed the paintings that the Genoese artist and his workshop created with representations of this act. Today, these artworks are kept in different museums and in private European and American collections. These paintings have been linked to a later, unpublished copy, preserved in Lecce, as well as to a version sold in the same city and a drawing recently purchased in Florence.
